Sports Performance Coaching for Athletes and Teams
I began 2015 with a goal; run 1 marathon per day for 100 consecutive days. I failed, but I also succeeded. You see, in the beginning, we usually have a picture of what success looks like, and when that doesn't materialise, we call it failure. The thing is, we usually take account too soon.
I'm not an elite athlete and never have been. Regardless, my time in endurance sport contained the perfect combination of success and failure to show me the inherent value of pursuing a sporting goal despite the outcome. My training in psychology provided a framework to understand it.
To Be Your Coach…
Theory is important, but experience is essential. To be an effective coach and guide you successfully towards your best, there must be relatability and understanding. I've got to know what it means to commit to a goal way out there on the edge of achievement, and to both succeed and to fail. I have got to have been where you want to go.
The mental game challenging, perhaps more so than the physical challenge you have embarked upon. However, if you are prepared to go to the depths within yourself and truly find out who and what you are, then you will most certainly succeed.
